Description

North Reading Middle School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher for the full 2024-2025 school year. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

 

North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 3, 2024. New educators are required to attend the two day new staff orientation on dates still to be determined.

 

Essential duties 

  • Provide direct specialized instruction, inclusion support, curriculum modifications, and accommodations for middle school students with disabilities
  • Develop appropriate IEPs in conjunction with Team
  • Provide consultation to general education staff in the content areas associated with assigned students and ensure that accommodations are being met
  • Facilitate all aspects of student's annual review and interim progress meetings
  • Oversee support of Paraprofessional staff
  • Assist with the transition process for the of Fall 2025 (school year 2025-2026)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Moderate Disabilities, grades K-8
  • Working knowledge of evaluation and IEP development
  • Experience administering, scoring, and interpreting diagnostics assessments including WIAT, TOWL, and KeyMath preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative working demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
