Description

North Reading Public Schools is seeking a part-time Float School Nurse to assist Elementary, Middle, and High School Nurses throughout the District starting January 2, 2025. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential. 

 

In this role you will support students' health needs, triage situations, and facilitate ongoing wellness programming throughout the District. 

 

This position is a 0.5 FTE and approximately 17.5 hours/week. Exact schedule will be coordinated with the Director of Student Services and the Lead Nurse.

 

Essential Duties

  • Provide direct nursing services to students and staff as needed across the District in grades PreK-12
  • Provide building based nursing coverage for district nurses as needed
  • Assist building based staff with the completion of mandated and recommended health screenings
  • Consult and collaborate with the district staff and the Nurse Leader on matters pertaining to student health and well-being as appropriate
  • Consult and collaborate with district nurses on matters related to policy development as appropriate
  • Provide professional development to staff on issues related to health and wellness as appropriate
  • Attend 504/IEP team meetings as appropriate
  • Complete data entry associated with student office visits as needed
  • Attend and participate in nursing department meetings
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or Director of Student Services

Requirements

  • RN license
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) license in Professional Support Personnel: School Nurse (All Levels)
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience preferred
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in basic computer skills; i.e., Gmail, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
