North Reading Public Schools is seeking a part-time Accompanist for High School, Middle School, and Elementary School Choirs. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.
You will be successful if you are able to be flexible with hours, including occasional nights/weekends. This is a part-time, temporary position for approximately 50 hours up to $2,000 for the 2024-2025 school year.
Essential duties
- Accompany choral ensemble rehearsals and performances led by Directors (e.g. Winter & Spring Concerts, District All Town Concert)
- Accompany choral groups in a variety of settings (e.g., rehearsals, concerts, competitions, auditions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring professional musical support for students and instructors
- Analyze assigned music prior to rehearsal and performances (e.g., correct tempos, challenging transitions, dynamics, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules
- Assist choral Directors with a variety of student related activities (e.g. recording music on Roland classroom pianos for rehearsal use, practicing with individuals or small groups, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and ensuring the success of each program
Requirements
- Advanced classical piano technique
- Advanced sight-reading ability
- Superior collaborative playing skills and the ability to artistically respond in real-time to their student counterpart
- At least two (2) years of prior experience as an Accompanist, preferred
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
